The Gabba is a legendary sporting ground and stadium in Brisbane, managed by Stadiums Queensland. It is home to the Brisbane Lions AFL team and the Queensland Bulls state cricket team. Annually, The Gabba hosts a range of international sporting and entertainment events.
Stadiums Queensland was dealing with an ongoing water issue at The Gabba that resulted in regular and costly repairs to the corporate areas located beneath the stadium’s concourse on Level 4. With a capacity to seat 42,000 people, the stadium endures heavy foot traffic, and the concourse carries a large share of that.
A decision was taken to refurbish the concourse, including re-applying the waterproof membrane and non-slip top coats. Concrete Seal Waterproofing was commissioned to undertake the work. We planned the project to suit the Gabba’s busy sporting and entertainment schedule and worked to minimise disruption to patrons.
The finished coating is 2mm thicker than the original application, and better suited to the high-traffic environment. It is also designed to require minimal ongoing maintenance.
